OLOL Women’s Health Petition

The women of OLOL, both employees and covered female family members of employees, would like to make known our displeasure and disappointment at the treatment of women’s health by the OLOL health plans. There is a lack of Tier 1 coverage for Ob-Gyn care, women’s specific medications, and breast care. Many employees have specific examples of their experiences. Most troubling is the recent switch of LSU Ob-Gyn providers as the only Tier 1 provider for Ob-Gyn services, which was not widely publicized in the organization. We understand the symbiotic relationship of OLOL and LSU, and it is appreciated, however, the LSU Ob-Gyn group is not large enough to provide services for all the women under the OLOL health plans. It would also cause our women to have to change providers frequently as this is a resident service. You are eliminating our right to have a stable, long term relationship with those who provide an intimate service.

All labor and delivery services follow Tier 2 pricing structure, 80% coverage after meeting deductible. This pricing structure often leaves women with several thousand dollars of out of pocket expense for bringing new life into the world.

It is a fact that there are almost no tier 1 options for almost all women specific healthcare needs. The fact is an economic injustice for women. We ask for this fact to be acknowledged and addressed.

This form is a petition to be presented to the HR administration and any personnel who determine the coverage levels of services and providers in the OLOL health plans. Please consider signing the petition if you are displeased with Ob-Gyn provider coverage, if you have had necessary female specific services without Tier 1 coverage, or necessary female specific medications not on formulary with our health plans. Please include a brief description of the situation or situations you have experienced in the space provided. Please share this petition widely among OLOL employees and the covered female family members.

Anger is information. It tells us where harm is being ignored and change is overdue. Thank you for your participation. We have faith and hope that change can happen when the injustice is brought to light.
